LOUISVILLE— A new music venue is coming to Louisville’s downtown entertainment district.

Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment Division announced Thursday that it will open a 900-person music venue in the Wright Taylor Building, 611 S. Fourth St, across the street from the Louisville Palace. The anticipated opening for the unnamed music venue is sometime in the spring.

Live Nation also owns and operates the Louisville Palace and routinely books events at the KFC Yum! Center.

The Palace is also a historic venue, opening in 1928 and rededicated in 1994, that seats 2,800, according to its website.

“This is an amazing opportunity to bring both artists and fans together in a wonderful venue that’s going to be one of the best in the United States,” said Ron Bension, CEO of House of Blues Entertainment in a press release. “We’re looking forward to enriching the local music scene by bringing even more of the world’s finest entertainment choices to Louisville.”

The 16,000 square foot, two-story venue will feature space for both live music and private events, a VIP lounge, unique packages, tiered balcony seating and exclusive concert experiences.

According to the plans for the building, which was also built in 1928, it includes a first floor that totals more than 6,400 square feet, with a stage and a bar bookending either side of the venue. Upstairs, the more than 5,000 square foot space features a smaller bar toward the back of the venue, a VIP lounge on one side of the space that overlooks the stage below and stadium seating centered on the area overlooking the stage.
