Fantastic females in Louisville this weekend

There are some rocking women coming to the area this weekend.

A series of shows featuring female singer/songwriters or bands with female lead singers will kick-off with Fiona Apple playing at the Louisville Palace Friday, Oct. 5. The waify songstress is touring in support of her June release “The Idler Wheel…”

Little has been heard from Apple since her last release in 2005, but her fourth full-length album has received a tremendous amount of critical acclaim.

Doors for the show open at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $37.50-$59.50. For more information or to buy tickets visit: www.louisvillepalace.com.

On Monday, Oct. 8th, Zanzabar will feature a three-pack of musical mavens with the night’s headliner Austin’s shoegaze/drone revivalist, Ringo Deathstarr.

Chicago’s Secret Colours, described in a press release as hazy 60’s pop blended with gritty garage rock will open for Ringo Deathstarr. The group features Tommy Evans, Dave Stach, Dylan Olson, Justin Frederick, Margaret Albright and Nate Wiese and is touring in support of a new album coming in 2013.

And Louisville singer/songwriter Cheyenne Mize –she has dropped the Marie– will open the show. Mize will have a new album coming out in 2013 and will be playing some of her new material Monday.
