Getting jazzed up

Jazz legend and New Albany native Jamey Aebersold

The Jazz Education Network is holding its third annual conference at the Galt House in Louisville between Jan. 4 and Jan. 7.

More than 3,000 people are expected to attend and will be conducting outreach events to 20 Louisville area schools, reaching over 1,000 local students.  The conference will feature concerts on five stages as well as clinics, workshops, seminars and discussion groups.

“We are very excited in our commitment to bring the Jazz Education Network Conference to Louisville,” said Dr. Lou Fischer, president of Jazz Education Network.  “We invite the entire community to join us in January. Whether you’re a jazz aficionado or just a music enthusiast, our conference will provide a fun, unique experience for all ages,” he said.

The University of Louisville Jazz Ensemble —featuring jazz legend and New Albany native Jamey Aebersold— will headline a concert on opening night. Also performing will be Harry Picken’s Group, Jack Wilkin’s Blue & Green Project, and the Louisville Leopards with Craig Wagner.
